Patterns

I made mum and Kate a skirt pattern.  Both of them have been used, more than once.  Mission complete

does this count?

Techincally, I didn't finish the quite, but it is finished.  I asked my good buddy Fiona to finish it, I had done all the sewing/piecing, and I really enjoyed that, but I wasn't enjoying the quilting part.  Fiona on the other had loves that part and is really good at it.  I think it was a good compromise.  It looks fantastic.

Course complete

I enjoyed the pattern drafting course and learnt many things.  I haven't put the learnings in to action as much as I would have liked, but I have made a few very lovely items.  My favourite being my woolen coat.

frog prince

Although my course is still ongoing and I will be doing another larger project, I am going to mark this task complete, as I have produced my first thing:frog prince

Lead lighting

Mum used to do this, and I have always thought it looks cool, or at least has to potential to. As my house isn't 'period' I think I would have to be very careful with how any lead light was implemented, other wise it could look a bit .... dumb. But there is no harm in doing a course. Here is what I am thinking of going with. I am also thinking I might change one of the other 'course' task to this (cool glass bead making!).

Mid-term review - out with the decos, in with the jacket

Old Task:Make Debbie Mum Christmas decorations
New Task:Make jacket to go with skirt from course
Although I went to quite a bit of trouble to get the patterns for these decorations and I still really like them, I would rather invest my sewing time and energy into other projects at the moment. I think I will end up making them... eventually... but defiantly not in time for this challenge.

The new task is for me to make a jacket to go with the skirt I have made for me pattern drafting course.

Mid-term review - stealing

Old Task:Finish tracing Kats Calendar pics
New Task:Make Mum and Kate a pattern of their choice
This task really was just plagiarism and stealing at it's best worst anyway, so it's probable a good thing I am getting rid of it.
So to make up for it a first hand go at doing something with my own hands! Also, this puts the skills from my pattern drafting course into practice.

task 27, new Introduction

I have a lovely vest that I started last winter. I really need to finish it, and since a number of other task have now been finished, purely because they were on this list and I need more tasks marked off, I thought I'd add this project!

Started!

This is a Big Deal. I have started my Celtic Winter! As posted about in task 7, I have changed the pattern something I never do, because as previously discussed, I am not creative, I follow patterns. Any way this is very exciting, I am progressing wonderfully. At this stage I will not put up pictures, because I am photographing my progress and I am going to see if I can make it into a movie! ooooooo modern technology!

Enrolled

I am now enrolled in my pattern drafting course! I am very excited! It is a whole year long course. It runs, in theory, every Friday. The people running it are changing the way they run their business from now on, and this is the last year they will delver course like this. Also there looks like only being my in the Friday course (they also run a Saturday one) so I can just work with the lady and I might not ending up missing as much work as it first looked like. I am very exciting!

Alphabet cross stitch sampler

It's done. It's fairly plain, but I like it. If anyone every finds one with A is for Apple, B is for Boat, C is for Cat etc. Please let me know, cos I'd love one like that too.

Oh and I noticed, on the bottom of the page I hadn't put in a picture of the other alphabet sampler I finished a while back. So here is is:

Yay me :) One (the finished one) has cute dogs on it, the other I bought last year in Skye.

02 August, 2008

progress at last

I went and bought the backing and batting for my quilt today. I have also added the edging. Now all I have to do is stretching and quilting. Yay :)

25 July, 2008

Nearly done - quilt

So, I have finally sew all the bits together for my quilt. I only have to add the edging and a backing then quilt it. I might send that to a shop, as I have recently discovered that that bit takes AGES! (I always thought of quilting as patch work, let me tell you people, they are NOT the same thing)
