Outing to the museum

One of the trips my good friend BP made back to Australia, we had an outing to the Science Works museum.  It was a great day out and the kids (and us) really enjoyed it.

NZ x2

Since the long hiatus, I have actually been to NZ twice, once to each island.

Feb 2013 was north island (another active volcano!) and a shit tonne of caches.  It was the first major time my hip really ruined a trip for me.  There was a lot of things we couldn't do cos I was in so much pain.  I needed drugs to do pretty much and thing and there were things we had to take off the list all together cos of how much pain I was in.  Was still a fun time, but my hip was not any fun at all.

December/Jan 2018 was the south island NZ trip.  A trip mainly for Neil's birthday, so there was a lot of steam stuff and a few caches.  A helicopter ride.  My first test of new hip, in that respect, this trip was the opposite of the last one, 5 years previously.  I was so pleased with how much I could do and the options being able to walk around gave the trip.  It was great!

Volcano trip

Back in winter 2015, we left cold old Melbourne for warmer climb.  We went to Vanuatu, Fiji and Hawaii.  Two of the three of these included live volanos.  Super happy with the trip, was exhausting, included many cocktails and many amazing sites.

And I'm back

I have been away in the UK for 6ish weeks so, as was fairly clear anyway, there is no way this will be finished in the next -4 days. I am going to try and finish is though, I'm not really concerned how long it takes. Our trip was great, you can read about it here.

Unexpected win

We have an international visitor staying with us at the moment. She is Canada and is very nice. We took her, very unexpectedly, down to the Penguins on Phillip Island. We also went to the Koala park down there. Both of these were great. We got to see a tiny tiny koala, which had only just grown fur, and a tiny penguin, that still had grey downie feathers on. We had a great day. (Neil took all the good photos, I will try to get some off him to show on here.)

minor edit - task done

I have changed this task from go to the Talbot Market to go to the Market. Today Neil and I went to St.Kilda Market. I haven't been for for best part of 10 years. It wasn't as big as I remember, but I'm assuming that is because it's winter, and quite cold. It was a pleasant afternoon out. Now we are planing on sitting around and doing not much for the rest of the day.

out with the old

This task used to say: Make a new picture for the front of the aircon. I will do this one day, but for the moment, I think my new task if way more worthy of a slot in the list (it also costs a lot more and will be way more fun). So new task: Go back to the UK. This will be being done between the 22nd of September and the 4th of November this year. You will note that this is over the end of my challenge time. This is going to mean that this challenge will run over time. I have thought about this a lot and am resigned to this. I would rather finish the challenge in the time it takes, than start a new challenge with heaps of left over tasks from the last one.

New Car

Well, it's here. We ordered our car in what feels like January. I think it wasn't really that early in the year, but it was months ago. It's here now. It's shiny :)
Having the new car should allow us to complete some other tasks on the list much easier (21, 32 (obviously I am referring to the Tasmania half of this task), 55, 67 and 90) I'm hanging out for more adventures, I think this will be great :)

New task!

I have decided what this task is, but I am not going to tell you yet, cos for some of the people who read this, I want it to be a surprise! Yes it is staying a travel based task.

Mid-term review - one road trip for another

Old Task:Go on a road trip holiday with the ‘girls’
New Task:Have a road trip to SA, geocaching along the way
The group of 'girls' I had in mind for this trip isn't really going to work out anymore, so I am ditching this one.
To keep with the travel them I will replace it with a task that relates to my newly acquired hobby of geocaching!

Mid-term review - snow

Old Task:Go skiing every winter of this challenge time (if there is snow)
New Task:??
Given that I have made very little effort to go to the snow at all whilst doing this challenge (with the exception of with the dogs) I can safely say this task will not be achieved. Also, given how crap my hip has been, I know I would get very little out of a skiing trip at the moment, even just a day trip. So......
A new task.... Make snow cones? Eat yellow snow? I'm going to have to think about this one.....

Motorcycle group ride

OK, so it's true that when I thought of this task, I had only envisaged a ride with me Neil Scott and one or two others I could scrape up, but when the BMW Club "Circum Vic Major Mitchell Trail" trip came up, I decided it was two good an opportunity, as I had always wanted to do the Major Mitchell Trail too! (shame I never made that a task on my list really!!)
So we have been and come back, it was a huge week, and mostly it was fantastic! I really enjoyed it and will seriously think of doing another one. Here are my posts about it.

Motorcycle ride

So here is the route, roughly, for the motorcycle ride Neil and I are booked into do in March

Clearly the task needs to be re-worded from 'day' ride to something else!

Mid-term review - task change 32 and 33

Old Wording:32. Go to Tasmania again
                     33. Go to New Zealand
New Wording:32. Go to either Tasmania or New Zealand

Given that time is ticking away, and tasks 22 (the new version) and 13 I am planing on completing this year I think it would be hard to fit two holidays into the last year of the challenge, there fore I am combining these two into one.

Mt Alexander

I went camping with Velvet on the weekend. It was very pleasant to be out and about. Velvet went on a bushwalk on the Sunday, I just sat around reading in the sun. It was a little cold, but very pleasant.

Science works

I was sitting at the bus stop the other day, and a bus went past (obviously not the one I was going to get on, other wise this would be a post on my normal blog, and the the rant heading talking about missing stoopied buses) and it had an add on the back for science work. I thought "gees I haven't been there in an AGE" so here it is, I have added task 100!!! Only one to go now!

riding

I love my motorcycle, although mostly I only ride it to work and back. My other half and a good friend of his also have motorcycles. I want the three of us to go on a ride somewhere together.

Skiing

When I was younger, we used to go skiing at least once, usualy 2 or 3 times, each ski season. In the last few years I haven't been at all. I miss it, and will go more.

road trip

I did this once, many moons ago with a group of friends, just after High School, It was ACE. I even came home with a cat. The idea was sugested again by some different people and I recon, yay lets go. Now it's just be me, herding some cats, until people are able to go!
